Conversation Circles

All congregational members are invited to participate in Conversation Circles in Westminster Hall following the 10:30 services on September 10th and 24th. These conversation circles are intended to be a simple, effective, and flexible way to have productive conversations with a larger group of people to capture what is important to our church.

These conversational circles will be led by Jennifer Johnston Crow of the Muskingum Valley Presbytery Committee on Ministry (COM). Jennifer is a coaching professional as well as a member of the COM. COM is responsible for the care, oversight, and accountability for pastors in the Presbytery. CPC must gain COM approval for our upcoming pastoral decision, and these conversational circles will be an excellent chance for Jennifer to get to know our congregation.

COM has asked us to conduct Conversation Circle meetings to review the Session’s vision with the congregation and get your thoughts, concerns and ideas as we start this due diligence portion of our work. These conversations are an opportunity for us to collectively discern and envision the leadership we desire for our future.

The transition team, which is our team of session members, both past and present, and two congregants, has agreed with Jennifer that the three topics that will be explored are

  • What we ARE
  • What we aspire to BE
  • What is NEEDED to realize the future

The conversation circle process consists of round table discussions with 4–6 people at each table about each question, capturing thoughts, reporting out, and then moving on to the next question.

As many know, our Spirit and Space campaign combined the structural improvements to the church with defining what is important to the church going forward—that document is available here. We have presented this vision to our assigned COM members and hope that congregants who attend will remember this vision as we engage in meaningful dialogue to understand what qualities and attributes in a pastor(s) are important to our congregation.

We will provide lunch and childcare. We encourage you to attend one of these dates and contribute to these discussions. Your presence and insight are invaluable in this significant decision-making process.

If you have any questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We look forward to engaging with you in these conversation circles and working together toward selecting the next pastor(s) who will guide our congregation.

Please sign up online via our online registration page or in person via the sign-up sheet in Cloister Hall.

Blessings,

Chuck Ash, Elder
