Heather Cooper

Director of Music & Organist

Heather Cooper serves as Director of Music & Organist at Christ Presbyterian Church in downtown Canton, Ohio where she delights in providing music for worship, directing the handbell and children’s choirs, and organizing the robust annual concert series. With over twenty years of experience as a church musician, she has served this congregation since 2019. She currently serves as the Dean of the Canton Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and holds the Associateship (AAGO) Certification. The Canton Symphony has twice featured her as organ soloist, including Guilmant’s Symphony No. 1 in D minor, Symphony No. 3 of Saint-Saëns, Once Upon a Castle by Daugherty, and Bach’s Concerto in A minor, BWV 593.

Heather is Principal Conductor of Summit Choral Society; she previously taught elementary and middle school music for sixteen years and has served on the faculty at two colleges. She has a Master of Music in Music Education (Kodaly) from Capital University, with Bachelor of Music degrees in Piano Performance and Choral Music Education from the University of South Carolina.
