Mission & Values

Mission West

Christ Presbyterian Church exists to glorify God, lead people to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, build one another up in spiritual maturity, and send out servants to share the Good News in word and deed.

Since the summer of 1977, we have been developing a cross-cultural relationship with the people of Porcupine Presbyterian Church on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.

The goal of our time together is to share Christ’s love as we walk alongside of our Lakota friends in mission and relationship building. Each summer, one team facilitates building projects and one team creates and teaches Vacation Bible School. Treasured friendships have resulted over our many years together.

We have learned that at the core of Lakota culture is a saying, “Mitakuye Oyasin,” which means, “we are all related.” Our journey has taught us that, indeed, we are all related. As we share Christ’s love we grow in our faith together.

Every year is a new adventure and a new opportunity to serve the Lord. If you are interested in knowing more or getting involved in this ministry, please call the church office and they will direct you to trip leaders.
