Parkinson Theological Education Fund
Supporting ministry students throughout the Muskingum Valley Presbytery
The Parkinson Theological Education Fund, honoring George E. and Hazel M. Parkinson, was established by the Session of Christ Presbyterian Church (Canton, Ohio) in 1991. The fund’s purpose is to provide grants first
- to qualified students from the Muskingum Valley Presbytery enrolled in an accredited Presbyterian Seminary, then
- to individuals who are pursuing training to become a Commissioned Ruling Elder in the PC(USA), then
- to individuals pursuing graduate degrees in Theology, Christian Education, Youth Ministries, Camp Ministries, or other graduate degrees specifically in service to the Christian church, or post-master’s degree certificate/programs as approved by the committee.
Parkinson Theological Education Fund News
We are pleased to tell you that two more recipients of Parkinson Fund
grants are graduating from Seminary and seeking their call in Ministry in
the next few weeks. We are providing their addresses so that you can send
them a note or card congratulating them and wishing them well in the next
step of their Faith journey.
The first recipient is Kathryn Ophardt who grew up in our congregation.
Kathryn only needed limited support from the Parkinson Fund because she
had a full scholarship. Kathryn will be graduating with a Masters of Divinity
degree from Pittsburgh Seminary, May 27th, 2022. She is currently interviewing
and seeking a call as a pastor.
She will be living here in Canton for the summer until she is ordained.
